Quantum Software Consortium

Workshop on Random Quantum Circuits

This workshop aims at bringing together a small group of people with different backgrounds with a common interest in random circuits. The workshop will feature some talks, but will also leave plenty of time for discussions and spontaneous sessions. We want to create a vivid atmosphere which will ideally spark many new ideas and collaborations. More information on https://www.random-quantum-circuits.com/

This workshop is primarily invitation-only. The main topics are:

  • approximate unitary designs & random quantum circuits
  • pseudo-random unitaries
  • influence of gate noise on randomization
  • applications (such as random circuit sampling, quantum characterization, verification, and learning)

GENERAL INFORMATION

The workshop takes place from 11 to 15 November 2024 at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam and is organized by Jonas Helsen (QuSoft/CWI) and Markus Heinrich (HHU Düsseldorf/U Cologne).

This workshop is primarily invitation-only. However, if you think you would be a great fit, please write to Markus Heinrich.

There is a decent amount of travel support available and we will arrange for your accommodation in nearby hotels. If you need more support, please contact Markus Heinrich.

PROGRAM

Participants may give a talk -- ideally, this should not be a polished conference talk, but it should rather point out open problems (perhaps motivated from applications), things that you find interesting to work on, etc. It should be an invitation for discussions. Besides the talks, we encourage participants to suggest thematic sessions for discussions. We will have a morning meeting each day to gather suggestions and evaluate interests. There are seminar rooms and discussion corners available to be used.

We will post a list of talks and a schedule on this website a few weeks prior to the workshop.

DIRECTIONS

Amsterdam has a large international airport with direct flights to many destinations worldwide, and train connections to many major cities in Europe. Public transport in Amsterdam works well and can be navigated using Google Maps or GVB's journey planner. Payment works contactlessly with your credit/debit card (or Google/Apple Pay), see OVpay for more information. For detailed directions of how to reach the workshop venue, please consult the CWI website.
